Personal Profile
Dr. Rose Hessmiller studied Special
Education and Organizational Learning and Educational Technologies
with a concentration in Distance Learning at the University of
New Mexico. While at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Hessmiller
administered special projects and distance education for the Division
of Continuing Education and Community Services. Her efforts included
the evaluation, design, marketing and technical assistance of all
projects involving telecommunications technology. This included the
creation of interactive web courses, satellite television, digital
video broadcasts, audio conferences and virtual simulation case studies.
Her office provided grant writing and onsite training and support
for network designs, system operations and professional and curriculum
development. She assisted the Division coordinate audio, video, and
computer seminars, business meetings and technology summits.
Rose has
worked with the Continuum of Care Project for over a decade helping
COC assimilate emerging information technologies within their personal organizational
learning theories, pedagogy and purposes. Her services within COC include
the development of online training, IT research, medical collaboratories, web
sites, interactive medical manuals, customized web applications, online communities,
grant writing, technology training, and the creation of strategic web technology
plans and online operations support.
Dr. Hessmiller has taught a wide range of information technology
courses at the University graduate level, face-to-face and online,
featuring: distance learning theory and application, virtual business
solutions, and computer mediated communications. Dr. Hessmiller
works internationally with private and public sectors including academic,
government, corporations, and non-profit organizations. Her
recent work includes the development of a national search portal
for disease management and research through Roche Pharmaceuticals,
Document Library and Workflow Portal for USAID, Virtual Roundtable
and Online Training Center development for the Center for Disease
Control, and the private coaching in teleconsulting to health care
professionals at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center
School of Medicine.
Current Research Projects include:
USAID, Research on the feasibility of creating
a Natural Resource Management and Renewable Energy Portal for the
USAID, Development of a Data Reporting Application and Creation
of a prototype distributed communications system across the Amazon
for the USAID Mission in Brazil.
